“This body of work explores borrowed nostalgia through the lens of vintage print media from the 60’s-80’s, capturing the muted tones and faded beauty of old film aesthetics. Louis translates that cinematic quality into contemporary art, inviting viewers to experience their own fascination with eras they’ve never lived through.”

Louis Trautman was raised in Canmore, AB and received a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2017. While the focus of his degree was conceptual photography, recently his mediums of choice have been based in acrylic paint, resin and collage. As well as a visual artist, Louis is a working musician.
